Wilmington Police Chief Joseph Desmond commends the swift and professional response of officers who were dispatched to a shots fired incident in the early hours of Saturday, July 1st. The incident took place at approximately 2 am at 100 Research Dr, an industrial park within the town.

Upon receiving reports of shots being fired between motor vehicles, Wilmington Police immediately deployed officers to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered an alarming situation with approximately 40 vehicles still on the premises, displaying evidence of numerous shots having been fired. The shooters had fled the scene before law enforcement’s arrival.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of this incident. As of now, no firearms have been recovered. The Wilmington Police Department is actively investigating the situation to determine the motive and identify the individuals involved.

Chief Desmond would like to express his gratitude to the Massachusetts State Police and Andover Police Department for their invaluable assistance in handling this complex and challenging incident. The collaboration among law enforcement agencies underscores the commitment to maintaining public safety in the region.
