The Wilmington Police Department is currently investigating an armed robbery of a resident walking on the trails behind the Wilmington Family Medical Center located at 500 Salem Street. On July 6 at approximately 5:30 pm, the resident was walking in the woods and was approached by a male party that showed a handgun and demanded her phone and jewelry.
The male suspect was reported to be in his mid 40’s, approximately 5’08 tall, and weighing approximately 180 pounds. The suspect was wearing a blue surgical mask, dark blue t-shirt and darker brown pants. He was reported to have blue eyes, messy darker blonde hair, and some type of unkempt facial hair. A sketch artist assisted in generating an image of the suspect. The victim reported that although having similar features, the male party depicted in the sketch shown here appears younger than the actual suspect.
This appears to be an isolated incident. The Wilmington Police Department wants to remind residents to be mindful of their surroundings in secluded areas, especially if walking alone. Anyone with information is asked to contact WPD Detectives at 978-658-5071.
