Chief Joseph Desmond is pleased to announce the promotion of Brian Hermann to the rank of Lieutenant with the Wilmington Police Department.
Lieutenant Hermann began his career with the Wilmington Police Department in 2003. Prior to becoming a police officer, he served for several years as a Wilmington Public Safety Dispatcher, demonstrating an early commitment to serving the community. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of roles, including Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, and Traffic Officer. In 2017, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, where he provided strong leadership and guidance to his fellow officers.
Lieutenant Hermann earned a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and later obtained a master’s degree from UMass Lowell, equipping him with valuable knowledge and skills that will contribute to his leadership within the department.
“Lieutenant Hermann has dedicated more than two decades to the Wilmington Police Department and the Town of Wilmington,” said Chief Desmond. “His vast experience in patrol operations, school safety, and traffic enforcement has given him a well-rounded perspective on public safety. As he joins the Wilmington Police Department Command Staff, I have no doubt that his leadership will bring new insights and continue to strengthen our department.”
Lieutenant Hermann will assume his new duties immediately. The Wilmington Police Department congratulates him on this well-earned promotion and looks forward to his continued service in this new leadership role.
