Chief Joseph Desmond is pleased to announce that Kevin Cavanaugh has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Cavanaugh was sworn-in yesterday by Wilmington Town Clerk, Christine Touma-Conway, with his family by his side. “Sergeant Cavanaugh has served as an exemplary officer in his time in Patrol and I am sure those skills will transfer as he assumes this sew supervisory role,” stated Chief Desmond, “I wish him the best of luck in his new position.”

Sergeant Cavanaugh began his career with the Town of Wilmington as a Public Safety Dispatcher. He joined the Wilmington Police Department in June 2012. In addition to his role as a Patrol Officer, he has served as a Field Training Officer, an instructor in the Police Explorers, and also serves as a CPR and First Responder instructor for the Department.
