Police Chief Michael Begonis reports that the Wilmington Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday afternoon.

The Wilmington Police Department responded to the report of an armed robbery in the area Suncrest Avenue off of West Street in Wilmington on December 27, 2016 at approximately 2:30pm.

A female victim reported that she had arranged to meet up with a male party in the vicinity of Suncrest Ave and West Street in Wilmington, to sell a pair of sneakers. The victim reported that the suspect met her at the location and attempted to take the sneakers without paying for them.  During the encounter, the victim was assaulted by the suspect who threatened her with a firearm.  The suspect ran off with victim’s laptop computer and the sneakers.

Subsequently, the victim’s laptop was sold, by a male party at a computer store in Malden. After a foot pursuit Malden Police Officers were able to apprehend and arrest the male party who sold the stolen computer.  That male party was in possession of a loaded handgun on his person.
