On Wednesday September 21, 2016 at approximately 3:00 p.m. Wilmington Police and Fire units responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Main Street (Rt. 38) and Richmond Street (Rt. 129).  A motor vehicle operated by a female Wilmington resident struck a pedestrian by the entrance to the Rite Aid Pharmacy.  The vehicle also struck two un-occupied vehicles in the Rite Aid parking lot.  The pedestrian, a 52 year old female from Wilmington, was transported to Lahey Hospital by Wilmington Fire ambulance where she was pronounced dead.  The operator of the vehicle was also transported via ambulance to the hospital.  Both the operator’s and pedestrian’s identity are being withheld pending notification of family members.  The accident is under investigation by the Wilmington Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
