We are pleased to announce the return of the Wilmington Police Department Citizen Police Academy. Made possible through a generous grant from the Cummings Foundation, the Citizen Police Academy gives residents an opportunity to interact with Wilmington Police Officers and learn about policing in society today. Topics expected to be covered are Introduction to the Wilmington PD, Criminal/Constitutional Law, the Massachusetts Court System, Traffic Safety, Working as A Patrol Officer, Drugs, Scam Investigations, and Police Officer Use of Force.
Graduates from the Citizen Police Academy will not only have a better understanding of the operations of the Wilmington Police Department, but they will also have a greater understanding of the daily tasks and challenges that Wilmington Police Officers face each day.
In order to attend the program, you must be a Wilmington resident, be at least 21 years old, and have no serious criminal history. The class will be limited to 20 participants.
