Lock It Or Lose It

Chief Michael Begonis would like to remind residents about the importance of locking their vehicles. This morning the Wilmington Police Department received multiple reports from at least 15 residents of  Ashwood Avenue and Fiorenza Drive that had their unlocked vehicles rummaged through. Multiple residents reported having items stolen from their cars. We are requesting that anyone who has information about the crime or that may have seen anything suspicious in the area overnight, to please contact the WPD Detectives at 978-658-5071.

To avoid becoming a victim:

  • Keep your vehicle locked at all times, even while driving.
  • If you have to leave valuables in your vehicle, hide them so that they are not in plain sight.
  • When parked, never leave your keys in the car. Close all the windows and the sunroof.
  • Never leave your car running and unattended.
  • Avoid leaving valuables inside your vehicle where passersby can see them.
  • Thieves prefer to work in the dark. Install a motion sensor light near your driveway.
Lock Your Car!
